A CHITCHAT WITH MY 13 YEAR OLD SELF!!

Dear Wanja,

I know that sounds a bit formal but knowing you that’s the only way you’ll take this seriously. So much happens to you between the ages of 13-24 so sweetie sit down and listen carefully!!!! Feel free to take notes!

First that boy in your estate Samuel Mbugua… Be nice to him he is going to be your first Love and its gonna last like 5 years… and he is a decent guy so don’t make his life too difficult!

High school is not too bad but less of the groups and more books though honestly you only live once so live it up…

You’ll need to be a better daughter especially where mum is concerned I hate to be the bearer of bad news but she’ll be all you have at some point and she is going to be your rock so be nice to her… Having said that enjoy every minute you have with dad now… those long walks, boring golf tournaments he drags you to and the twist lessons… humor him.

Not everyone you think is your friend is actually genuine you will undergo some major heartaches and majorest (P.s. you’ll need to stop making up your own words) backstabbing from people you thought were tops so be careful who you call friend….

Hmmm Love… You have a very gentle and Loving heart and it will be shattered into a million pieces but the best part is you will dust yourself off and move on and Love again so be ready buy new shock absorbers! Word of advice if you cannot put more than one reason down why you Love a man then you probably should not contemplate spending forever with him….

As for school when you are done with High school you’ll proceed to Campus do not let anyone choose for you what to do it’s your life hence you should  take only what makes you happy and not others life is too short. But I can guarantee you will love History

Life is short and a chance once lost can never be brought back, please enjoy life and grab every opportunity you can and take maximum advantage of all opportunities you’d never want to live to regret not doing something. And you have a sound head on your shoulders so trust your instincts!

Finally, you’ll have a good life so don’t worry about it and the one thing I’ve learnt about us is we’re a very strong girl so all life throws at us we handle very well. Oh and the belly ring you’ll get when you’re 18 don’t bother mum makes you remove it and removing it is more painful than getting it!

Pray and be of good cheer, do not stop going to church and Read your Bible everyday that’s the only way you’ll make it through.

You’ve got rough days coming up but the happy days make it all worth it!

Keep smiling and I love you forever.

Oh and that song we Love so much is called…….. Come on by Billy Lawrence!! Major discovery!

Love you Wanja
